We have actually eaten or stayed in all these places, except where noted.

Bayfield Area

Old Rittenhouse Inn (Hotel)

We did not stay here because we could not get a room.  Book ahead!

Old Rittenhouse Inn (Dining)

Delicious dinner, fabulous menu and wonderful environment  You won’t be disappointed!

Island View B&B and Cabins

We booked this through AirBnB, where we are also hosts.  Basic, but very clean and comfortable.  Would recommend without exceptions.  Lovely people in charge, phenomenal breakfasts(!), less than a minute drive into Bayfield. Beautiful view of the lake 9but we didn’t have decent weather to take advantage of it!)

Copper Trout  (Restaurant)

Great food!  Gerry had a trout mousse appetizer that was divine and trout for dinner.  The chef made me a vegan pasta.  Service was very good.  would definitely go again and recommend heartily.

Madeline Island

Madeline Island School of the Arts

On the island, we stayed at the school so no recommendations for lodging.  However, the food at the school was catered by the Fat Radish Restaurant in Bayfield.

Cafe Seiche (restaurant, La Pointe, WI on Madeline Island)

Super centrally located, no reservations for small parties.  Food outstanding.  Service Excellent. Very popular place so try not to arrive at peak times like 6-7 pm.

The Pub Restaurant (the Inn on Madeline Island)

The decor is nothing to write home about but the food is good. Whitefish and trout as well as super club staples like crab cakes and steaks.  You won’t be disappointed, but not exciting.

Ashland, WI

2nd Street Bistro

Had a good lunch here when we were in Ashland for the day.  Inventive food for a small town.  Even though our other choice was Burger King, this was head and shoulders betters!

Cornucopia, WI

Little Nikki’s

we really enjoyed our lunch here, and yes, we were hungry!  We had BBQ pork sandwiches that really hit the spot with copious french fries.  lemonade and iced tea are canned, so stick with water (or beer).

Hurley, WI

El Dorado Mexican Restaurant

We had lunch here on our way south, and though the food was okay, I bet you can find something tastier.
