Fort Worth, Texas is known as the beginning of the West – and western lore is very much a part of the fabric of this city. For a quick look at the Old West in a gem of a museum in a city full of great museums, you should visit the Sid Richardson Museum in downtown, Fort Worth. Here’s my review!

I love the Sid Richardson Museum!
Thanks, Betsy, for posting this. I love small excellent museums and they are all over our great country! I look forward to visiting this museum the next time I’m in TX.
Here’s another great one for you if you have time: the National WASP (Women Air Service Pilots) WW II Museum in Sweetwater, TX. It’s about 200 miles from Ft. Worth, and very interesting. http://waspmuseum.org/
Also, have you ever seen a National Geographic guidebook called Crossing America: National Geographic’s guide to the Interstates? It has a lot of great smaller museums and other cool things to do within 20 minutes of the interstates. My family and I have found amazing sites with this excellent book! Hope you’re having a great trip, and thanks again for the great museum tip. I love the Old West, also.
Best, Maureen O’Grady
